Gaslighting Definition
Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which a person or group covertly plants seeds of doubt in a targeted individual or group, making them question their own memory, perception, or judgment. Through persistent denial, misdirection, contradiction, and lying, the manipulator attempts to destabilize the target and delegitimize the target's beliefs. It may evoke in the target feelings of confusion and helplessness in the face of the psychological manipulation and ultimately leads the target to question their own sanity.
