Although sexual harassment training in the workplace is not legally mandated in Alaska, it is strongly encouraged by the EEOC to create a safe and welcoming workplace for every worker.

In addition, Alaska Human Rights Law AS Code § 18-80-220 states that it is unlawful to refuse employment (or to publicize job descriptions that discriminate) based on race, religion, color, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, sex, marital status, changes in marital status, pregnancy, or parenthood when the reasonable demands of the position do not require distinction.
This law also protects employees from wage discrimination based on sex, as well as discrimination against anyone who may make a complaint against a company regarding the practices in this section of the law.

A sexual harassment prevention training program for employees is not currently mandated by the federal government for state or private organizations but it is highly recommended by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
The EEOC is the federal organization in charge of defining and enforcing sexual harassment and discrimination legislation. Their responsibility in an investigation is to thoroughly and accurately evaluate charges before reaching a conclusion. If discrimination is discovered, the EEOC will work to resolve the issue. In the event that they are unsuccessful, the EEOC has the right to file a lawsuit to defend individual rights and the interests of the general public.
