California Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Requirements
California is at the forefront of addressing sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace. The state wants to properly educate companies and employees about what constitutes sexual harassment in California. It recently enacted a new law, SB 1343, which expands sexual-harassment prevention training requirements and affects many more organizations.
Who needs to be trained?
Employers with five or more employees, including temporary or seasonal employees, must provide required training to all supervisory and nonsupervisory employees within the first 6 months of employment or assuming a supervisory position.
How long does the training need to be?
Supervisory employees: 2 hours
Nonsupervisory employees: 1 hour
How often do employees need to be trained?
Employers must provide training to each employee in California once every two years.
